Powerella Pilgrim: My Mission
The Name Powerella
The little poor man of Assisi, known as the poverello, is still casting his Franciscan nets and catching souls all over the world even today. My life has been caught up in those nets from the very moment I chose my vocation in the Secular Franciscan Order and made my eternal vow to God. Within these nets, I want to sail through restless waters β not held captive, but protected.
When thinking about how to name this new creation of mine, this was the exact word that kept coming up and being written down countless times. During the greatest spiritual poverties and dry seasons of my soul, the poverello always led me back to the Source, to the Franciscan Sources.
With the letter "w," a little switch occurred. Power is an English word meaning strength, while ella (in Spanish/Italian/Latin) translates as she or, as a suffix, little. Merging these two words with the letter "w" in the context of the Poor Woman depicts her who is little yet empowered by Him β God.
In Powerella, the threads of my life are connected, not to create a story of an ambitious business venture, but to transform the calling of my heart into an apostolate for Him β using the talents He has given me. These are the paths where He guided and equipped me. Organizing and leading pilgrimages, distant lands, languages, and diverse cultures; writing and binding with special threads; a deep connection with the saints and a love for holy lives; digital platforms, marketing, analytics, and newsletters; online sales of religious items alongside project management education β all of these clarified the vision I had. A crucial part was the freedom to act under my identity as a Secular Franciscan, and the decision that I do not want to build my mission alone, spending time separated from those who are my primary mission β my family.
Among all of Francis's virtues, evangelical poverty β poverty of spirit β has most deeply fueled my ambition to grow in such freedom. To reach the peak of freedom from worldly approval, freely making my own choices and forging my own paths, and to become free from the world while creating within that very same world β is the way of the mission.
The name Powerella challenges to accept own littleness and fragile strength as the starting point of our quest for the immense wealth the Father bestows upon His Daughter.
Therefore, Powerella is dedicated to the One who gives and weaves the paths of life together, the Heavenly Father.
